For years law enforcement officers have used Pelican cases to safely transport guns and equipment. But the extreme protection they offer comes at a weight cost.
The Pelican Air series is up to 40% lighter than traditional cases. It is also designed to fit airline carry-on size restrictions and features over-molded top and side handles for carrying.
Protector
One of the most important jobs a case’s latches must do is to stay shut. That’s why all cases in the Protector, Storm and Vault series are made with double-throw latches that have been drop tested to withstand over 1.8 meters of impact. The handles are simple and rugged, extending or stowing with the press of a button and snapping tightly closed with a reassuring snap.
A hard case makes an ideal travel companion for any photographer who doesn’t want to leave expensive equipment at the mercy of baggage handlers or risk being stuck with airline overweight fees. The 1535 Air’s TrekPak system maximizes space, is durable and reconfigurable, allowing you to add dividers or a kit that fits your new gear.
If you’re a hunter, you’ve invested a ton of money in a rifle, optics and countless accessories. Why trust them to some cheap case from the hardware store? Pelican Air cases are designed to meet the highest standard of protection, and they’re proudly made right here in the USA with a lifetime guarantee.
Storm & Vault
The Storm and Vault series cases have long been the Pelican case choice of professionals around the world. The company’s website is full of stories about bomb blasts, lion attacks, shifting pack ice and airplane crashes where the gear inside survived because of the ruggedness of the case.
The new cases are up to 40% lighter than the standard Protector and Storm case lines while still delivering their legendary standards of extreme durability. This is achieved by using a Honeycomb structural design that reduces the amount of structural plastic used.
The case is also designed with easy to use latches that open and close with much less force than the standard double-throw latches. There’s even a molded-in pressure equalization valve to make sure that the case stays airtight after altitude changes. Like all Pelican cases, this one is dust proof and waterproof to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. The 1615 AIR, which is the largest roller case available, can be specced with a bespoke padded camera insert or a TrekPak customizable insert system.
Travel Case
Pelican cases have long been the go-to choice for people who need maximum protection for their equipment. The company’s website features stories of explosions, lion attacks, shifting pack ice and airplane crashes, where the gear inside survived.
But all that protection comes at a cost — weight. Pelican’s new Air series aims to cut that cost without sacrificing durability or strength.
The rolling airline carry-on sized 1615 case is built from a super-light proprietary polymer. It has an automatic purge valve to balance air pressure, quiet rolling stainless-steel wheels and a retractable extension handle.
It’s designed to meet airlines’ checked luggage dimensions and avoid those dreaded oversize fees. It can be opened by press-and-pull latches that add a security measure while providing easy access to your gear. The interior can be configured with Pick-N-Pluck foam, padded dividers or the new TrekPak infinitely reconfigurable divider system. The case is also available empty for those who prefer complete control of the layout.
Empty
A lightweight, rugged case for transporting a small to medium amount of camera gear. Sized between Pelican’s popular 1535 Air carry-on case and larger 1615 Air check-in case, it’s the perfect way to safely pack a smaller amount of equipment.
Like all Air cases, the Empty is a super-light solution to delivering Pelican’s trusted protection. Up to 40% lighter than polymer cases, they cut structural waste without sacrificing durability.
The Empty case opens easily with Press and Pull latches tested to withstand extreme impact and pressure situations and features a padlockable hasp for security when traveling. It’s the perfect case for those who fly regularly and need a safe, rugged travel option for their cameras, drones, lighting or other professional gear. With an internal base depth of 4.75” (empty), the Empty case will comfortably fit a full, compact travel kit including a tripod, ball head, medium format body, 2 lenses and accessories without extending past the maximum linear dimension allowed by most airlines for checked luggage at 62”. Please verify with your airline before purchasing to ensure your equipment will fit.
